Description

Ying and Yang -or- We Are One.

So, I revisited a concept I once before tried: One of this split half-and-half images - back then, it was with Mewtwo and my mewthree, and I've understood it to have been a success.

This is an art form that is not always easy, but can look awesome if done well. I am not saying that my pictures look awesome, but I am saying I love this concept and enjoy making it myself, to whatever my abilities are. In both images, I had to make the female variant larger-than-life to match up to the male variant, but I think that doesn't matter in the end effect (Just mentioning it so that people do realise that Marijk is not as tall as Blade, nor is Néoko as big as Mewtwo).

This time, I chose Blade and Marijke - and added lyrics of Nu Pagadi's "Your Dark Side", which just fits in so many ways, to this pair, as well as this image.... and which sorta inspired the image - or listening to it provided me with the motivation to actually do what I had in my head, and stick with it patiently even when I started to get a bit frustrated.

At first, right after I had drawn it, I thought I'd failed and that it sucked. Next day, though, I still liked it a lot. I personally love the effect this has. The two, Marij and Blade, with Blade in his usual Camera-mood, and Marij smiling and the effect this combination has on both characters.

I hope to complete this image.

So, what do you think? Good? Bad? Any other thoughts?

Blade and Marijke belong to me.

I think this is just excellent. Honestly, the way they flow into each other - it just works so perfectly, on an artistic level, symbolic, emotional... it's a great image. The contrast in their expressions is also great, like you mentioned, and again they flow so easily - it could be jarring but it's not, it's like one easy shift between the two that leads to a sort of in-between blending of expressionless/smiling into a rather cocky, knowing expression.

I got nothin', no criticisms or suggestions to make - I just do hope that you finish it, I think it's fabulous. :)
