Ugh, the app is still very problematic.

I’m not sure how to add tags to submissions or sort them… and I’m having trouble editing my profile. it’s very frustrating.


At least I can /upload/ stuff again. I couldn’t do that on the phone for… forever! I kept trying after every update and this was the first time it’s not just given me an error.

Just a note:

I have made a lot of art, but DA is not being cooperative about letting me upload it.

It keeps telling me to use “a correct title”, but won’t tell me what’s actually wrong and I’m not playing a guessing game. It’s already a pain to upload suff in the app since you can’t choose tags, where it should go, etc.

Hopping on the Bandwagon: Deviant Questionnaire

  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt? 12 years.

  2. What does your username mean? It's my nickname, and also my fave online handle, and the name of my persona.  Marijke is a Dutch name, and Marijke Rose just sounds good together.

  3. Describe yourself in three words: - Friendly, quiet, and secret.

  4. Are you left or right handed? Right-handed.

  5. What was your first deviation? Couldn't tell you. Look through my gallery and find out for yourself.

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create? Eh, whatever inspires me.

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? I can try, but am pretty comfortable with my own style.  That is, I can mimic many styles, but there will always be a hint of my own, no matter what I do.  I can't copy perfectly, and don't want to.

  8. What was your first favorite? I have no idea.

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? Honestly, whatever speaks to me.  I can't say what "type" I mostly chose to fave.

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? Don't have a single fave.  There are so many amazing people that I'm watching.

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? I dunno.  I'd like to meet lots of them, and have already met some of them.

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? Yep. A couple.

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art? That can probably be found in my profile, but: Pencil, Paper, Scanner/Camera, and the GIMP. Also, a drawing tablet and GIMP, if I could get one to work again...

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? I don't have a single place, but night, when all is quiet and I can let my inspiration flow.  Music is important, music inspires me a LOT.

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory? Probably the Darkwing Duck OC Secret Santa, that was SO fun!

DA's 13th b-day

...Which means I've been a member for ten years, now.  Holy Shit.  Back when I registered, DA was already quite a big community, and a total pain to use with a dialup connection.  That it is still going on strong today is, to me, no surprise.  Back when I registered, it was clear that DA was going to become one of the biggest art-based communities ever - thereby knocking out sites I'd actually prefered.  The only question for me would have been if they'd have found a way to keep going with all the traffic they get.

As per their birthday wishes, they've asked people to share their greatest DA memory - preferably in an art form.  For that one, I probably need to think about it for a while... not sure I've got one that really inspires art.  I have a lot of good memories, mostly in the last three years that I've been here, but picking a fave... not so easy.

What I'm thinking would be my fave, would be the group art trade done on my Darkwing OC's group (so, I guess I would have to make a collage of the submissions, if I'd want to express that in a picture, LOL!).  It was so much fun!
But, that had less to do with DA and more to do with the people.  Through the Darkwing Duck fandom - and Mal's Forum, Negaverse.net - I met some great folks.


So, that's my little story.  If anyone else would like to share anything on the topic of their experiences on DA with me, I'd love it!
